Grosvenor Rowing Club was founded in 1869 to serve 'the clerks and assistants in the city' of Chester. Our motto is, "Virtus non stemma" which translates to "Virtue, not pedigree", derived from the Duke of Westimster's Eaton Hall home (Earl Grosvenor).
